The privately-owned Sala Beach House was completed in 2022. This charming boutique property has a prime location overlooking the sandy beach of Thompson's Bay.
Tucked away between the coastal towns of Ballito and Salt Rock, Sala Beach House is a contemporary and stylish boutique hotel. There's private access to a wonderful beach where the tidal pools are home to a multitude of marine life. From June to November, humpback whales can often be seen off shore, an added incentive if you are planing to hike the coastal trail. It's a great base for golfers too, with coastal championship golf courses nearby. It's the perfect destination to unwind after a KwaZulu Natal safari or a tour of the Battlefields.
Why we love Sala Beach House
-
You have direct access to Thompson's Bay where there is an Olympic-size tidal pool for swimming
-
Personal touches in the rooms include yoga mats and beach baskets with sunscreen
-
This is a great location for seasonal whale and dolphin watching
-
In the evening, gather by the fire pit for sundowners as you listen to the waves roling onto the shore
Rooms
This boutique property has just seven rooms and suites and a three-bedroom villa for exclusive use. Each is individually decorated with views of the palm-fringed courtyard, pool or ocean. We love the little extras such as a yoga mat and a basket with beach towels.
Facilities

To maximise the use of seasonal and local produce, the menus at Sala Beach House are constantly changing. Expect freshly caught fish, locally sourced farm produce with plenty of European, African and Indian flavours.
