The exclusivity of these self-contained suites will make it very difficult for you to leave, as the emphasis here is intensely focused on privacy, relaxation, and the beautiful bushveld surrounds. The private plunge pool and romantic circular sala are a delightful addition to each villa, but our highlight has to be the private open-air boma, which is an unparalleled setting for a romantic and intimate dinner.

Wildlife conservation at Thanda Safari Lodge
Thanda Safari Lodge sits on an enormous 14,000-hectare reserve. Its sheer size means guests traverse only half of it on game drives. The other half is pure wilderness – undulating plains, ridges and mountains with scopes, scarps and staggering plateaus. With such a low commercial footprint, the space allows experts to carry out conservation in peace, sustaining animals such as the cheetah and rhino. Behind the scenes, the wildlife management team work on a 24/7 basis to maintain the reserve, combat poaching and participate in breeding programs that help critically endangered species survive.
Facilities
Dinners in the lantern-lit boma are an exciting affair offering not just a traditional braai but exotic meats too such as warthog sausage and crocodile.

Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with an experienced ranger, join a photography lesson with the resident wildlife photographer, go on an educating bush walk or take a tour of a local Zulu village.
The reintroduction of animals to this former hunting ground is an excellent example of conservation. Non-native plants were cleared and animals were translocated. The Thanda Foundation has a number of projects including an elephant dung paper making business. It also created Football for Life - an academy for women players and coaches. The Thanda Foundation has built a crèche in the area.
